Released in 2005, The Documentary solidified The Game as a dominant force in hip-hop, debuting at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and earning widespread critical acclaim. Featuring hits like ‘Hate It or Love It,’ ‘How We Do,’ and ‘Dreams,’ the album became a cultural touchstone, helping to reinvigorate the West Coast rap scene. Pitchfork ranked it as one of the Top 50 Albums of 2005, cementing its place in music history.
Beyond his music, The Game—real name Jayceon Terrell Taylor—has made his mark as an entrepreneur, actor, and cultural icon. He quickly rose to fame under the mentorship of Dr. Dre, becoming one of the key artists signed to Aftermath Entertainment. His ability to merge gritty street tales with commercially appealing hooks set him apart from his contemporaries. Following The Documentary, The Game continued to build on his success with his sophomore album Doctor’s Advocate, which also debuted at number one in the U.S.
In addition to Grammy nominations for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for the smash hit ‘Hate It or Love It,’ The Game has influenced a generation of artists with his raw lyricism and authenticity. As he celebrates the two-decade milestone of The Documentary, this tour is a tribute to his legacy and the lasting impact the album has had on the rap genre globally.
This tour is not just a celebration of The Documentary, but a reflection of The Game’s enduring relevance and influence within hip-hop, as he continues to bring the energy and spirit of the West Coast to stages worldwide.
