Since forming 49th & Main four years ago, Paddy King and Ben O’Sullivan have struck a chord in young audiences with their vulnerable and captivating sound. Resilience lies at the heart of the duo’s ethos, who persevered through Ben’s diagnosis of aplastic anaemia last year, a rare blood disease which impacted bone marrow function and left him chronically fatigued and prone to infections.
Now in full recovery, 49th & Main have announced their biggest tour yet including an appearance at London’s 1500 capacity Outernet venue. Previously selling out their debut shows in less than 24 hours, the duo’s playful and eccentric live presence has earned them widespread acclaim with fans travelling from as far as Australia to see performances that have never not sold out a tour.
Graduates of Spotify UK’s RADAR: First Listen program, which has previously featured artists like Pink Pantheress, Wet Leg, Joy Crookes and Griff, and 2023 nominees for Ireland’s coveted Choice Prize, the duo are poised on the precipice of a major breakthrough. Their jazz and indie-infused take on house animated by elements of D&B and garage has found fans in Arielle Free, Sian Eleri, Jack Saunders, and Chris Hawkins at BBC Radio 1 & BBC Radio 6 with their discography amassing over 1.8M Spotify monthly global listeners.
